What is BMW Wireless Charging?
BMW Wireless Charging provides a convenient and clutter-free way to charge your smartphone device while on the go. Simply place your compatible device on the charging pad, and the inductive charging process initiates automatically.
If you have become frustrated fumbling with cables and connectors when trying to charge your mobile device in your vehicle, then wireless device charging is a must-have feature in your BMW.
New BMW Models With Wireless Device Charging
For the 2024 model year, wireless device charging is available for every new BMW model. On higher trim levels, wireless device charging typically comes standard. Otherwise, it is an available option, usually part of the Convenience Package, Premium Package, or as a stand-alone option.

How to Use the BMW Wireless Charging Tray
Wireless charging in your BMW is simple. The wireless charging tray offers wireless charging according to the QI standard.
To check if the smartphone tray in your BMW also has wireless charging capabilities, look for the indicator light and battery symbol on the tray.
You can charge suitable electronic devices and, when equipped, your display key. Place the electronic device with the display facing up in the center of the tray for optimal performance.
Depending on the vehicle, the device's charging status is shown on the Central information display.
Also, an LED on the wireless charging tray gives you feedback. Blue indicates that the device is recognized and is being charged. Orange indicates the charging stopped because the device has gotten too warm or something that cannot be charged is on the wireless charging tray. Red indicates an internal problem, and to bring your vehicle in to BMW of Bellevue to fix.
If you forget your smartphone, a reminder appears in the instrument cluster.
